The Central Operations Room of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers announced, in a statement, that “in the context of preventing random gatherings, the fixed facilities that had been erected on the Beirut waterfront were removed, especially the facilities made of wood, eternite, and concrete, which prevents any expansion of this site, and requires clarification: 1. The new site, affiliated with the Beirut Municipality, does not constitute more than 15% of the area over which tents were previously spread. 2. This measure does not aim to establish a camp or official shelter center, nor to establish a new reality, as some are trying to promote, but rather to protect public order and security in the capital, and remove encroachments on private property. . Moving to the new location allows for controlling the security and regulatory situation on the waterfront, preparing nominal lists of those present there, and preventing the addition of any new tents. 4. Anyone who wants to obtain basic services, such as electricity, water, toilets, meals, etc., must move to the approved shelter centers, where these services are provided exclusively, the first of which is the Sports City. 5. We confirm that it will not be permitted to build any infrastructure on the new site, or any additional equipment that would transform this temporary presence into a permanent reality.” She renewed the call "for the displaced people who want to obtain basic services to move to the Sports City, where more organized shelter conditions are available, until they are able to return safely and with dignity to their cities and villages from which they were displaced."
